What is Feng Shui? (02:00)

Feng shui began when ancient philosophers began to notice the patterns in how the cosmos, heavens, and earth all interacted. They understood that there are certain ways to help plants, and even people, thrive and have their best life by surrounding them with what serves them. So Feng Shui is an understanding of how your surroundings, both the energy you see and the energy you don’t see, are always in conversation and influencing your well-being.

Feng shui means wind & water. Wind is energy, water is fortune. So the practice of Feng Shui is aligning yourself with the energy of fortune — not just money in the bank or income, but anything that you think would be necessary for you to live a good life: purpose, passion, opportunity, and abundance.

What do you have to say to people who struggle to keep their space neat & tidy? (07:20)

Feng Shui isn’t about having a minimalist space or being a perfectionist about how things look. But in reality, it’s about you loving your space. There isn’t an objective template that everyone needs to follow. The question to ask yourself is, How do you feel in your space?

On Amanda’s journey to overcome skepticism & become an entrepreneur. (13:00)

Amanda wasn’t always planning to be an entrepreneur. She graduated with a master’s degree in communication and spent some time freelancing in DC after school. Then, in the midst of a stressful move to a new place where a lot of old wounds opened up, she discovered Feng Shui. Believing that she could prove it didn’t work, she started using Feng Shui and blogging about it… and quickly realized that it was greatly improving her life!

How do you use Feng Shui to call in more money? (16:30)

Set your office up for success. Make sure you’re in the command position so you can see anyone who comes in and manage the xi that comes at you. If you think about a CEO, their desk is never pushed up against the wall. That comes from the origins of Feng Shui, this idea that you would have a mountain at your back and a valley in front of you, so you’re protected & embraced by the elements.

Amanda also clears her desk at the end of the day and shuts the office door, leaving it behind, to signal that work is over. Keeping succulents or jade plants is also helpful because they retain water, which is symbolic of fortune.
