How to be consistent in your business even if consistency makes you want to barf

You might want to unfollow me for this…

There’s a recent trend of people saying stuff like, “I grew my business to a million dollars without consistency.” 🤦‍♀️

I’ve seen SO many people selling programs based on the idea that consistency isn’t important in business.

It’s a really seductive thought -

"Wait I can make loads of money & still check out for weeks or months at a time??"

AND it’s completely false.

If you actually look at these people’s businesses, they’ve been consistent for years and built up a following already, so their past consistency is carrying forward.

- Or they have systems in place so their business is consistent, even when they aren’t personally showing up.

- Or they have a team doing consistent work.

They might not be showing up all the time, but their BUSINESS is still consistent.

Anyone who says otherwise is clickbaiting you (sorry!! 🙊)

You either need to be consistent, or you need to build a business that can be consistent for you.

If you’re thinking, “Okay, but how do I actually DO that??”

How to get started being consistent in your business when you really dont want to:

  1. Make a BARE MINIMUM plan that you can stick to on a weekly basis.

    • We often make plans out of a burst of inspiration that is impossible to follow -- "I'm gonna write a book this month and do weekly podcasts and start a weekly youtube show and do IG Stories daily and post on social 5x a week..." -- which is lovely! But it's often unrealistic to keep up with.

    • INSTEAD OF THAT - create a bare minimum list:

      • Maybe it's to email your email list 1x/week. THAT'S IT. Maybe it's to go to 2 networking events a month. Maybe it's to reach out to 5 dream clients a week... (It can be anything, and should feel insanely easy to complete)

      • This is something you can commit to EVEN WHEN depression rears it's vicious head, or a family emergency pops up, or your laptop dies, or your girlfriend visits.

      • Everything you do above this bare minimum is NOT REQUIRED and simply icing on the cake (go you!!)

  2. Schedule time on your calendar to actually do the thing you need to do (write, post, email, record, whatever)

    • Respect this date with yourself like you would a meeting with someone you really respect.

  3. Stop doing the tasks you think you should be doing, but that aren't actually making a difference.

    • They're a waste of time & you might as well be going to a dance class instead of grinding on things that don't matter & that are draining your consistency tank.

  4. HAND OFF CONSISTENCY if you can. If you have the funds - hire a team to be consistent for you.

  5. Realize that every little action you take is building up.

And of course, we can help with that 😉

Just this week I got an email from one of our clients, Christine, that really underlines the power of this work:

“Highest monthly income I’ve ever had this last month & worked with least amount of clients -yessss!…

"Thank you all for the support and patience…this experience working with y’all continues to be the gift that keeps on giving ;)”
